Since I had a cesarean with Kyleeann I knew before I went to the doctor that my birth options were to try for a VBAC or do another cesarean. I went to the same OB, Dr. Pilla, as I had with Kyleeann and we talked about it at my first appointment. The only hospital that my doctor delivered at didn't do VBACs so she told me I could transfer to another doctor on the island to try or to just have a scheduled cesarean. I chose to stay with my doctor because I love her and I didn't want to go to the island and I'm glad I did because Loralei ended up being breech as well so I would have ended up with a cesarean no matter what.
At 39 weeks 2 days I was scheduled which happened to be February 2nd making Kyleeann and Loralei two and half years apart exactly.
We had to be to the hospital by 5 am for prep to be ready to go back into the OR at 7am.
One last photo before we headed out the door to the hospital.
We were so fortunate to have my mom come to help and she stayed with Kyleeann while we were at the hospital. Kyleeann loved having Grandma there.
My surgery ended up getting pushed back 45 minutes because the anesthesiologist had something but no one told the nurses. I do not like getting prepped, I don't do well with needles. IV, blood draws (2), and nasty medicines on an empty stomach (which makes me nauseous) made for a long morning but I did get some ice chips to eat and that helped a little.
Finally I got to go back. Robert got permission to watch my entire surgery, usually they bring your person back after it starts and they stay behind the drape with you but he asked my doctor who knows he is in nursing school and is cool so she let him. He also wanted to watch me get my spinal but the anesthesiologist wouldn't let him which was too bad, he would have learned a lot, it took three times to get it in. My spinal with Kyleeann was perfect, first try and worked amazing, this one was good, just not as amazing as my first. I felt a lot of pressure and all of the tugging, heard the staples and felt like I worked my abs out for two hours straight, very different from my first where I didn't feel any pressure or anything. With my first she used dissolvable stitches and this time I got dissolvable staples, which I didn't even know there was such a thing.
Loralei Lyne Krenkel was born at 8:28 am on February 2nd, 2016 weight 7lbs 6ounces and 19.5 inches long.
Here is me seeing Loralei for the first time. Robert watched the whole thing from my feet so he could have a good viewing spot and watched her come out and went with her to get weighed and wrapped and then went with her to the nursery for her tests etc...
I got closed up and arrived back into my room an hour exactly after she was born. Just in time for me to throw up. Maybe not the nicest detail to include but it is what happened and I might as well remember everything that happened. I threw up at 9:30, 10, and 10:30. Not fun with an empty stomach but I was use to throwing up from the whole pregnancy.
Robert and Loralei came in a little after 10.
After Kyleeann woke up from her nap my mom brought her to the hospital to meet her new sister.
She loved her but wasn't super interested while she was there.
Grandma Sherri meeting grand baby #15
Kyleeann wanted to get on my bed, they were nervous with her there with all the tubes and wires (and probably mostly my incision but she did great.
Robert holding Loralei, it's hard for me to hold a newborn with all the tubes and wires and being in an uncomfortable bed so he held her most of the time.
I wanted a picture of all her hair, it's so long! And look at those cute fingers!
