Robert's Birthday: NOLA part 2

We started off with breakfast beignets for the birthday boy
We got them at Cafe du Monde. The original one is in the French Quarter (super crowded), we went to one by our hotel. They have windows so you can watch them make them which is fun.
They were very good as you can tell from Robert's face.
After breakfast we went to the zoo. Chris, who we had dinner with the night before, is a zookeeper and works at a different location that works with the zoo and got us tickets took us around. It was a lot of fun!
The monkey had a shirt and we watched him put it on. It was funny to watch!
The Audobon zoo has several habitats that do not have wire or glass in between the patrons and the animals, it makes it so much easier and more fun to see.

When she would run out of puffs she would turn around to let me know she needed more
She is so cute!
Dirty face from eating puffs
They had a tube you could climb up into to be in the middle of a bunch of baby alligators
They had a stand for Roman candy. It is old fashioned candy that they make right there. We watched the guy make it, it was fun to watch. The candy was good, very sticky and chewy.
Have you ever seen a zoo with recipes posted? They had several
We had a blast at the zoo!
After the zoo we started the trip back home. For late lunch/ early dinner we stopped to get some real Cajun grub.
Robert had alligator for the first time!
I got a catfish po boy and Robert got an alligator po boy and we got crawfish boudin balls to share.
Happy 29th Birthday Robert! It was such a fun trip, we are glad we did it.

Trip to New Orleans part 1

For Robert's birthday we decided to go to New Orleans. We figured we should tak advantage of living close.
We decided to take the scenic route their. We took the ferry to 87 over to 124 to connect with I-10.
Kyleeann was asleep so she missed the ferry.
We left from Galveston just after 3 and arrived at our hotel at 9:30. 5:00 traffic in Beaumont and Kyleeann slowed us down a little. Yummy snacks kept us going.

The front desk knew it was Robert's birthday so she let us grab a couple drinks which was really nice.
The following pictures are from Tuesday:
Breakfast in the French Quarter at Jimmy J's Cafe
The food was absolutely delicious! The bread of my sandwich came from a bakery that has been around since the 1890's.
Jackson Square. Kyleeann likes to ride in her stroller with her feet up.
We enjoyed some Louisana Pralines right along the river. It was fun watching the boats go by.
Kyleeann was ready for her nap.
So glad we brought her stroller!
We walked to the WWII museum and on the way we came across a glass blowing shop/school. We watched them work for awhile, it was so cool to watch. They didn't allow photography so no photos to post. By the time we did make it to the museum we were tired, hungry, and had dinner plans so we decided we wouldn't get our money's worth. It was huge and had multiple buildings so next time we will have to go.
We had lunch in the French Quarter and then went back to the hotel and all three of us took a nap.
For our dinner plans we met up with Robert's friend and old co-worker (Chris) and his wife (Heather). They actually both worked with Robert at The San Luis, they moved to New Orleans a couple years ago. We went to a local place to get po boys. They were delicious. I love po boys. I forgot to get pictures though. It was a fun day!

Happy Easter!

Kyleeann asleep during church
Kyleeann got hives on Easter and we are not sure from what, we haven't had anything new lately. There has been a high pollen count the past few days but not sure that is it.
We went over to the Dawson's for Easter dinner (which was delicious) and then after we had cake balls and lemonade pie to celebrate Robert's birthday early.

Bouncy House

On Saturday we went to a birthday party for Liza and there was a bouncy house! Kyleeann loved bouncing.
She wasn't as entertained being used as a basketball but I thought it was funny.

After we bounced we (well actually just me) had ice cream with different kinds of cereal as toppings. It was so good! I put Reese's puff and pink and purple fruity pebbles on mine :)

Pearly Whites

Last Tuesday Kyleeann got her first teeth! So exciting!!
This is just after I discovered her teeth
This was taken yesterday. Such a cutie!
She has done well with teething. I haven't had to give her Tylenol yet. I can't say for sure that it is her amber necklace that is helping but I am keeping it on her just in case.
