We started off with breakfast beignets for the birthday boy
We got them at Cafe du Monde. The original one is in the French Quarter (super crowded), we went to one by our hotel. They have windows so you can watch them make them which is fun.
They were very good as you can tell from Robert's face.
After breakfast we went to the zoo. Chris, who we had dinner with the night before, is a zookeeper and works at a different location that works with the zoo and got us tickets took us around. It was a lot of fun!
The monkey had a shirt and we watched him put it on. It was funny to watch!
The Audobon zoo has several habitats that do not have wire or glass in between the patrons and the animals, it makes it so much easier and more fun to see.
Kyleeann eating puffs in her stroller
When she would run out of puffs she would turn around to let me know she needed more
She is so cute!
Dirty face from eating puffs
They had a tube you could climb up into to be in the middle of a bunch of baby alligators
They had a stand for Roman candy. It is old fashioned candy that they make right there. We watched the guy make it, it was fun to watch. The candy was good, very sticky and chewy.
Have you ever seen a zoo with recipes posted? They had several
We had a blast at the zoo!
After the zoo we started the trip back home. For late lunch/ early dinner we stopped to get some real Cajun grub.
Robert had alligator for the first time!
I got a catfish po boy and Robert got an alligator po boy and we got crawfish boudin balls to share.
