For Robert's birthday we decided to go to New Orleans. We figured we should tak advantage of living close.
We decided to take the scenic route their. We took the ferry to 87 over to 124 to connect with I-10.
Kyleeann was asleep so she missed the ferry.
We left from Galveston just after 3 and arrived at our hotel at 9:30. 5:00 traffic in Beaumont and Kyleeann slowed us down a little. Yummy snacks kept us going.
The front desk knew it was Robert's birthday so she let us grab a couple drinks which was really nice.
The following pictures are from Tuesday:
Breakfast in the French Quarter at Jimmy J's Cafe
The food was absolutely delicious! The bread of my sandwich came from a bakery that has been around since the 1890's.
Jackson Square. Kyleeann likes to ride in her stroller with her feet up.
We enjoyed some Louisana Pralines right along the river. It was fun watching the boats go by.
We walked to the WWII museum and on the way we came across a glass blowing shop/school. We watched them work for awhile, it was so cool to watch. They didn't allow photography so no photos to post. By the time we did make it to the museum we were tired, hungry, and had dinner plans so we decided we wouldn't get our money's worth. It was huge and had multiple buildings so next time we will have to go. We had lunch in the French Quarter and then went back to the hotel and all three of us took a nap.
For our dinner plans we met up with Robert's friend and old co-worker (Chris) and his wife (Heather). They actually both worked with Robert at The San Luis, they moved to New Orleans a couple years ago. We went to a local place to get po boys. They were delicious. I love po boys. I forgot to get pictures though. It was a fun day!
